A Guide to Commuting on Veterans Day

It’s Veterans Day today, but the federal government remains open. Here are some things to remember for your commute today:

— Metro has closed the Waterfront, Navy Yard, Anacostia and Congress Heights stations on the Green Line. These stations closed Thursday night at 10 p.m. for track work and will remain closed through the weekend. Shuttle buses will help bridge this gap, but it basically splits the Green Line into two segments and will result in extra crowding and delays for Green Line riders.

— The Virginia Railway Express will not run due to the holiday.

— There will be no MARC service due to the holiday.

— H.O.V. restrictions are lifted in Northern Virginia.

— Parking meters will not be enforced today in D.C., Montgomery County, Arlington County and the city of Alexandria.

— There will be OmniRide service, but it will be limited and running on a modified holiday schedule. (The local buss and cross county connector will run regular service.)

— Montgomery County’s RideOn service will run a modified holiday schedule.

— Alexandria’s DASH bus will run regular weekday service.

Arlington Transit will run a Saturday schedule (it will be running routes 41, 42, 51 and 81, with no other routes in service).

— The Fairfax Connector is running a holiday weekend schedule.
