Germantown Road reopens at Middlebrook Road

8:45 A.M. Update:

The accident on Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Circle in Northwest could still impact traffic. Avoid this spot if possible.

There are also accidents on the 1400 block of 29th Street in Northwest, the 400 block of C Street in Northeast and 8th Street and Maryland Avenue in Northeast.

I-395 North is jammed up at the 14th Street Bridge.

8:20 A.M. Update:

Germantown Road has reopened in Germantown, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

There are accidents reported at 1st and K streets as well as at 5th and H streets (both in Northeast). Expect delays approaching these intersections.

An accident on Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Circle in Northwest could cause problems there.

7:55 A.M. Update:

There’s an accident on Wisconsin Avenue and Woodley Road in Northwest. You can expect delays to pop up approaching this spot on the reliably crowded Wisconsin Avenue.

7:40 A.M. Update:

The traffic signals are reportedly flashing at Massachusetts Avenue and Garfield Street in Northwest Washington.

7:15 A.M. Update:

Germantown Road/MD 118 remains blocked in both directions between Crystal Rock and Wisteria drives in Germantown due to an accident. (Justin Jouvenal has more here.) This stretch of the road is just west of I-270 and sure to snarl some commutes as the morning gets going, so avoid that area if you can.

6:55 A.M. Update:

There’s a disabled vehicle in the 200 block of New York Avenue in Northeast. Expect some delays approaching this spot.

A disabled vehicle on Military Road and Oregon Avenue in Northwest could also cause delays.

Watch out for D.C. Fire Department activity in the 500 block of Longfellow Street in Northwest. The trucks and official response could block up traffic a bit.

6:35 A.M. Update:

I-95 North is, as always, backed up in Virginia approaching the Springfield Interchange. Backups stretch from essentially the interchange to Woodbridge, and as is often the case, the delays are likely to stick around through the morning rush hour.

6:28 A.M. Update:

Most roads should be reopened, as most of the officials responding to the fire have cleared the scene. There could be residual backups for in that immediate vicinity.

6:15 A.M. Update:

The fire at Macomb Street and Wisconsin Avenue is causing problems beyond just that intersection. 38th Street, Macomb Street, Lowell Street and Wisconsin Avenue are all affected, according to the District Department of Transportation.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! The final morning rush hour of the week starts off sunny, but clouds increase as the day progresses, according to the Capital Weather Gang. There may be some showers later on in the day.

We’ll be focusing on the morning commute, rounding up any headaches, issues or problems we hear about on the roads. Let us know anything you see out there — tell us in the comments below or via Twitter (@DrGridlock).

The D.C. Fire Department is responding to a garage fire on the 3700 block of Macomb Street in Northwest, which is right where the road hits Wisconsin Avenue. Avoid the area around Wisconsin Avenue and Macomb Street, as Wisconsin Avenue is closed at this spot, according to the District Department of Transportation.

And if you’re getting away for the weekend, Dr. Gridlock has some advice for you.
