Accident snarls I-66 E. at Bull Run

8:45 A.M. Update:

An accident has slowed traffic on I-495/I-95 North at Van Dorn Street. The accident was moved to the transition lane. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Traffic is still slow eastbound on I-66 at Bull Run due to an earlier accident that now blocks the left lane.

7:50 A.M. Update:

The vehicle fire on I-66 East has been extinguished. Traffic now gets by two lanes to the right. Traffic backs up to Gainesville, however, so expect major delays. If you’re headed in that direction, use Route 29 instead.

An accident is blocking the right shoulder of I-395 North in the City of Alexandria.

7:20 A.M. Update:

A vehicle fire is blocking all lanes of I-66 East between the Virginia Visitors Center and Bull Run. Fire and emergency crews are on the scene. Westbound traffic gets by the first responders single file to the right. The fire involves a tractor trailer accident.

The earlier accident that closed the northbound lanes of the Baltimore Washington Parkway has been moved to the right shoulder.

6:50 A.M. Update:

All northbound lanes are closed on the Baltimore Washington Parkway at Powder Mill Road due to a vehicle fire. Fire and emergency crews are on the scene. Expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

6:35 A.M. Update:

A vehicle fire is being reported on the right side of the Baltimore Washington Parkway at Powder Mill Road in Prince George’s County. Fire and emergency crews are on the scene.

The earlier accident on I-66 West is in the transition lane near N. Fairfax Drive.

We’re tracking the traffic situation for you. Update us about anything you see out out there — tell us in the comments below or via Twitter (@DrGridlock).

So far:

An accident is blocking the left shoulder of outer loop I-495 South between the American Legion Bridge and Carderrock.

A disabled vehicle has tied up traffic on I-395 North in the Arlington area. The exit onto Glebe Road is closed. Expect possible delays if you’re heading in that direction.

An accident has closed the right shoulder of I-66 West in Arlington, near mile marker 71.
