Congestion remains on Beltway in Md.

8:35 A.M. Update:

Congestion remains a problem on the Beltway in Maryland, although things are much better than they were earlier this morning. The outer loop of the Beltway is very slow near University Boulevard and Connecticut Avenue.

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway after Kenilworth Avenue is blocking one outer loop lane.

There’s also an accident on the outer loop to the south of U.S. 1/Baltimore Avenue.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike has been cleared from the shoulder.

MARC riders: Camden line trains 844 and 849 are both running 10 to 12 minutes late.

8:10 A.M. Update:

This morning’s problems on the Beltway aren’t unique to Maryland. On the outer loop, a disabled vehicle near Arlington Boulevard is blocking the right shoulder; the inner loop has congestion leading to Little River Turnpike.

8 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike remains on one of the shoulders.

A disabled vehicle on I-95 North is blocking one of the shoulders near the Greenbelt Metro station.

7:45 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop before the B.W. Parkway has been cleared from the shoulder.

The only lane closure still remaining from this morning’s earlier nightmare on the Beltway in Maryland is the accident on the outer loop before the Rockville Pike (which is still blocking one of the shoulders). Heavy congestion remains all over the place, though, so it’s still going to be a slow commute.

7:35 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop before the B.W. Parkway is now only blocking one of the shoulders.

7:20 A.M. Update:

Multiple accidents and other issues on the Beltway in Maryland have snarled traffic and shut down lanes this morning, creating heavy delays for commuters heading in both directions.

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike was blocking all lanes earlier this morning. All lanes are now open, with the fourth lane just reopening a few minutes ago, but the delays remain from the earlier lane closures.

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway before the Baltimore-Washington Parkway is blocking one inner loop lane, the right deceleration lane and one of the shoulders. This accident was blocking two inner loop lanes earlier this morning, and you should expect congestion approaching this spot as well.

Some earlier issues have been resolved, but delays might linger. An accident on the outer loop to the west of Connecticut Avenue has been cleared, as has a vehicle fire on the outer loop north of Annapolis Road.

7:13 A.M. Update:

And now the accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike is just blocking one of the shoulders. All outer loop lanes have reopened.

7:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike is now only blocking one lane and one of the shoulders. Massive, miserable delays remain approaching this spot.

6:55 A.M. Update:

The vehicle fire on the outer loop north of Annapolis Road has been cleared from the shoulder. So at least that’s one issue resolved.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The vehicle fire on the outer loop is now just blocking one of the shoulders north of Annapolis Road. The outer loop lanes have reopened.

The accident on the inner loop before the B.W. Parkway is blocking one inner loop lane, the right deceleration lane and one of the shoulders.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike is still blocking three lanes and one of the shoulders.

And the reported accident on the outer loop west of Connecticut Avenue is still there. No lane closures have been reported yet, but watch for additional delays.

6:40 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before the Rockville Pike is still blocking three lanes and one of the shoulders.

There’s also a report of an accident on the outer loop west of Connecticut Avenue. No lane closures have been reported yet, but this could create additional issues.

6:30 A.M. Update:

One outer loop lane has reopened before the Rockville Pike. Three outer loop lanes and one of the shoulders remain blocked.

6:25 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop before the Rockville Pike is blocking all outer loop lanes right now.

6:15 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop before the B.W. Parkway is now blocking two inner loop lanes as well as the right deceleration lane and the shoulder.

It’s a vehicle fire on the outer loop near Annapolis Road, and it’s now blocking two outer loop lanes and one of the shoulders. Two outer loop lanes are now open.

The accident on westbound U.S. 50 at U.S. 301 has been cleared.

6:10 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 at U.S. 301 is blocking one of the shoulders.

It’s going to be another hot one, according to the Capital Weather Gang. There could be some storms, but they aren’t likely until later in the day.

So far:

— An accident on the outer loop at Annapolis Road is blocking the right three lanes. Only the left lane is still getting by.

— An accident on the inner loop before the B.W. Parkway is blocking one inner loop lane, the deceleration lane and one of the shoulders.

— There’s also a report of an accident on the outer loop before the Rockville Pike. No lane closures have been reported yet, but watch for delays.
