I-66 East backed up approaching D.C.

8:35 A.M. Update:

There are heavy delays on eastbound I-66 approaching the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge.

Traffic remains congested on the Beltway around the American Legion Bridge, although it has eased since earlier this morning.

There’s some congestion on southbound I-270 approaching the spur, but traffic is still moving smoothly along this stretch right now.

Delays linger on I-66 East (at the Beltway), the inner loop (around Gallows Road and approaching I-66) and I-395 North (approaching the 14th Street Bridge).

8:20 A.M. Update:

The Beltway is fairly congested in both directions near the American Legion Bridge. There seem to be bigger delays for outer loop commuters in this area, but you should expect a crowd wherever you are going.

8 A.M. Update:

The Douglass Bridge is extremely slow right now in Southeast Washington.

The outer loop of the Beltway is pretty snarled right now near University Boulevard.

Expect delays on eastbound I-66 approaching the Beltway.

7:40 A.M. Update:

There are delays on westbound I-66 approaching Sycamore Street in Arlington.

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop is blocking the left shoulder at Gallows Road.

7:20 A.M. Update:

The outer loop of the Beltway is crowded near Van Dorn Street, while the inner loop of the Beltway is congested approaching Gallows Road.

There are delays on I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange, so expect to encounter those for the rest of the morning.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-270 North before I-370 has been cleared and the local lanes and one of the shoulders reopened.

6:40 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-270 North before I-370 is blocking one of the local lanes and one of the shoulders.

A disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 is blocking the right shoulder.

And an accident on I-270 South at Father Hurley Boulevard is blocking the shoulder.

6:10 A.M. Update:

Heavy traffic is building up on I-95 North in Woodbridge. This congestion rarely gets any better as the morning commute wears on, so expect delays there.

Original Post:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Braddock Road is blocking the right shoulder.

There’s also an accident on I-395 North at Duke Street, also blocking the right shoulder.
