I-395 S. jammed

7:45 A.M. Update:

In Alexandria, N. Van Dorn Street at Taney Avenue is closed because of an earlier accident involving a dump truck and a motorcycle. Alexandria police are on the scene investigating the crash. The closure is expected to last three hours.

An accident is being reported on the outer loop of I-495/I-95 North between the Baltimore Washington Parkway and Route 450.

7:15 A.M. Update:

A disabled tractor trailer is the cause of backups that begin at I-395 and stretch to the Franconia/Springfield Parkway. The trailer is blocking the right lane and shoulder between Duke Street and Seminary Road in the City of Alexandria.

6:50 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle is blocking the right lane and shoulder of I-395 South in the City of Alexandria.

The earlier crash on outer loop I-495 at New Hampshire Avenue has been moved to the shoulder.

6:30 A.M. Update:

A five-car crash has snarled traffic on outer loop I-495 at New Hampshire Avenue. Fire and emergency crews are on the scene. Three lanes are getting by. Traffic is jammed up to Franconia/Springfield Parkway.

We’re monitoring the morning commute and any traffic issues that come up.

So far:

It’s still early, but Interstate 95 North in Virginia is already experiencing delays. Even the HOV lanes are jammed between Prince William County and the Capital Beltway. The congestion is due to a disabled vehicle on I-95 North that has now been moved to the right shoulder.
