Canal Road closed due to mudslide

Canal Road in Northwest Washington is closed at Clark Place while crews stabilize an adjacent hill due to a mudslide that occurred earlier this morning.

The District Department of Transportation says the work -- being performed by DDOT and the National Park Service -- may take up to three hours.

During the morning commute, a portion of the hill slid onto the road, restricting travel through the area.
