10:45 A.M. Update: Both highways have reopened but traffic is heavy in both locations.
10:10 A.M. Update: Two right lanes of the outer loop are now open, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. Officials say drivers on I-270 and the Beltway should see relief soon.
9:55 A.M. Update: A car fire on the outer loop at Bradley Boulevard has the Beltway blocked in Montgomery County, according to the Maryland State Highway Adminsitration.
Montgomery emergency officials say Interstate 270 South is closed at Democracy Boulevard due to an accident.
Drivers should expect delays in both locations, including on surface streets as commuters seek alternatives. Interstate 270 traffic can use Democracy to Seven Locks as an alternate.
8:35 A.M. Update:
An accident on Alabama Avenue and Good Hope Road in Southeast could cause problems.
I-95 North is incredibly jammed approaching the Springfield Interchange.
I-395 North is also still very backed up at the 14th Street Bridge, while I-66 East is still snarled at Chain Bridge Road.
8:05 A.M. Update:
I-395 North is backed up approaching the 14th Street Bridge.
7:40 A.M. Update:
I-95 North is incredibly backed up approaching the Springfield Interchange.
I-66 East is still backed up at Chain Bridge Road, while I-395 North is also snarled at several points.
The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway between University Boulevard and Colesville Road has been cleared.
7:10 A.M. Update:
Georgia Avenue has reopened.
I-66 East is pretty backed up at Chain Bridge Road.
An accident on I-395 North is blocking the right shoulder near King Street. There are already northbound delays approaching this area, and they’re only going to get worse.
6:55 A.M. Update:
The lanes have reopened on the Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Road.
An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway between University Boulevard and Colesville Road is blocking one of the shoulders.
6:35 A.M. Update:
An accident on the Rockville Pike at Veirs Mill Road is blocking one lane in each direction.
6:20 A.M. Update:
I-95 North is pretty backed up around Woodbridge. There are no lanes blocked, so this is just routine congestion. Still, expect this to remain for much of the morning rush.
