Beltway delays in MD, VA

8:45 A.M. Update:

Due to utility work, traffic on Florida Avenue will be down to one lane in each direction at 18th Street, according to the District Department of Transportation. This will go from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today.

I-95 North is still slow around the Springfield Interchange.

An accident at 13th and Nicholson streets in Northwest could cause problems. Ditto accidents at 25th and N streets and 16th and H streets in Northwest and on Sumner Street and Forth Sterling Avenue in Southeast.

And an accident on 9th and I (Eye) streets in Southeast, reportedly involving a Metrobus, could snarl traffic there.

8:20 A.M. Update:

The debris has been cleared from the outer loop of the Beltway, but there could be some residual congestion approaching Kenilworth Avenue.

An accident on northbound I-395 at the 3rd Street Tunnel could cause some problems there.

There are also accidents on 3rd and Webster streets and at Nevada and Nebraska avenues, both in Northwest.

And an accident on Rock Creek Parkway at the P Street ramp could also cause delays.

7:50 A.M. Update:

The inner loop of the Beltway is crawling at I-66.

The debris on the outer loop of the Beltway before Kenilworth Avenue is blocking one lane, so that could seriously slow down traffic there.

7:30 A.M. Update:

An accident at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Eckington Place could snarl traffic in that Northeast Washington area.

There’s debris on the outer loop of the Beltway before Kenilworth Avenue, which could cause delays there as well.

7:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on the B.W. Parkway has been cleared and the lanes reopened.

I-66 East is jammed up around the Beltway, with delays stretching out a few miles to the west.

6:45 A.M. Update:

I-95 North is very slow approaching the Springfield Interchange and again approaching Woodbridge.

6:30 A.M. Update:

There are problems for travelers heading to Baltimore: An accident on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway/ MD 295 after I-895 is blocking two lanes and one of the shoulders. Expect big headaches on the B.W. Parkway approaching BWI Airport and beyond.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! This morning should be windy with a potential shower or two, according to the Capital Weather Gang, which is a serious upgrade over muggy temperatures and tornado watches.

We’ll be rounding up any headaches, issues or problems we hear about on the roads this morning. Let us know anything you see out there — tell us in the comments below or via Twitter (@DrGridlock).
