D.C. DMV announces increases in fees

Several fees at the District Department of Motor Vehicles are increasing Friday. In a statement, city officials said the hikes “are designed to assist with the current budget crisis in the District.”

Here are the fees that are affected:

• Duplicate ID card: Will rise to $20 from $7.

• Duplicate commercial driver license: Will rise to $20 from $13.

• Knowledge test: Will rise to $10 from free.

• Road test: Will rise to $10 from free.

The DMV will also be closed on Saturday through Monday as part of the Fourth of July weekend. Facilities are scheduled to reopen on Tuesdaym and officials warn that days immediately after holidays are very busy, so residents should consider using online services.
