The District Department of Transportation plans to host a workshop Wednesday on the links between transportation and climate change.
The event is part of a program sponsored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Federal Highway Administration.
“We’re honored to be chosen to lead this important discussion,” DDOT Acting Director Terry Bellamy said in a statement. “In the District we strive to make our transportation system sustainable, to promote green choices, and this workshop will help us shape our local policies to minimize our global impact.”
Local regional and federal groups have been invited to the one-day workshop, which will cover topics such as policies and legislation; reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and adapting to climate change.
