Outer loop jammed near Alexandria

8:35 A.M. Update:

The outer loop of the Beltway is very, very slow to the east of the Springfield Interchange. An accident is blocking the left shoulder near Eisenhower Avenue. If you’ll be swinging by Alexandria on the Beltway this morning, expect to hit delays.

Eastbound I-66 is heavily backed up approaching the Beltway.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Colesville Road has been cleared. So has the disabled vehicle on eastbound I-370 at Shady Grove Road.

An accident at 14th Street and P Street in Northwest Washington could cause delays around that intersection.

There’s also an accident on southbound I-295 at M Street in Southeast Washington.

8:25 A.M. Update:

The 9th Street Tunnel has reopened and the earlier situation cleared, according to the District Department of Transportation.

8:05 A.M. Update:

Issues continue at the 9th Street Tunnel. A tractor trailer struck the overpass at the tunnel earlier this morning; the two left lanes remain blocked, as is the D Street off-ramp going to northbound I-395.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Colesville Road is blocking one of the shoulders.

A disabled vehicle on eastbound I-370 at Shady Grove Road is blocking the right off-ramp.

7:40 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Colesville Road could cause delays in that area.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road has been cleared from the shoulder.

7:20 A.M. Update:

The disabled vehicle on eastbound I-66 at the Beltway has been cleared from the shoulder. The accident on southbound I-95 just south of the Springfield Interchange has also been cleared from the shoulder.

7:05 A.M. Update:

Delays continue on eastbound I-66 in Centreville.

Traffic is starting to pick up on southbound I-270 approaching the Beltway, but the congestion hasn’t become a huge problem yet.

6:45 A.M. Update:

A tractor trailer accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road is blocking the right shoulder.

6:35 A.M. Update:

Westbound Annapolis Road has reopened at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

6:25 A.M. Update:

Police activity on westbound Annapolis Road/MD 450 at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway is blocking one of the shoulders and the westbound deceleration lane.

6:15 A.M. Update:

An accident on eastbound I-66 at the Beltway is blocking the left shoulder.

6:10 A.M. Update:

A tractor trailer hit the overpass at the 9th Street Tunnel, blocking two lanes near the D Street off-ramp to northbound I-395.

The accident on I-66 East in Centreville has been cleared, as has the disabled vehicle on I-66 East at the Beltway. Delays remain on eastbound I-66 in Centreville.

So far:

An accident on eastbound I-66 at Lee Highway in Centreville is blocking the right shoulder and causing some moderate backups in that area.

There’s also a disabled vehicle on eastbound I-66 at the Beltway, blocking the left shoulder there.

And an accident on southbound I-95 just south of the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder.
