Outer loop lanes backed up at Colesville Road, inner loop jammed at I-66

8:35 A.M. Update:

Watch out for issues on the outer loop of the Beltway at River Road (there’s a report of an accident) and Colesville Road (there’s debris on the road).

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 is blocking the left shoulder. There are already very heavy delays approaching I-66.

Expect delays due to an accident in the 2900 block of Massachusetts Avenue N.W. Head to Connecticut or Wisconsin avenues instead of Massachusetts Avenue.

8:15 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Arlington Boulevard has been cleared and the lanes reopened. Expect some residual delays.

8:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Old Georgetown Road has been cleared and the lanes reopened. However, very heavy delays remain approaching this spot.

7:50 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Old Georgetown Road is blocking two lanes and one of the shoulders. Traffic is badly backed up approaching this spot.

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Arlington Boulevard is blocking the left lane and left shoulder.

An accident in the 2600 block of Benning Road N.E. could cause issues there.

7:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway has been cleared from the shoulder.

Eastbound I-66 is pretty jammed up around Chain Bridge Road.

7:10 A.M. Update:

The 600 block of 1st Street N.E. has reopened, according to D.C. police.

The accident on I-95 North has been cleared from the shoulder before Dale City.

6:55 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway has been moved from the left lane and is only blocking the left shoulder.

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Clara Barton Parkway has been cleared from the shoulder.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The 600 block of 1st Street N.E. is closed due to a suspicious package, according to D.C. police. Avoid the area. If you need an alternate route: Try using H and D streets to go east and west and North Capitol Street to go north and south.

6:35 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Clara Barton Parkway is blocking one of the shoulders.

6:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway is blocking the left lane.

The earlier accident on I-95 North has been cleared from the shoulder. Another accident on I-95 North, this one before Dale City, is also blocking the right shoulder.

Expect scattered showers and light breezes today, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

Another reminder: Metro altered dozens of Metrobus routes, putting numerous changes and schedule adjustments into effect on Sunday. You can read the list of changes here.

So far this morning:

— An accident on the inner loop after Georgia Avenue was blocking two lanes earlier this morning, but those lanes have reopened. There are inner loop delays approaching this spot.

— An accident on I-95 North in Dale City is blocking the right shoulder.
