Flip-flops are a sign of summer on Metro.

But transit officials have also said they are a headache, especially when they get caught in escalators.

Metro officials distributed this image of shoes removed from the escalators at Foggy Bottom via Twitter on Friday.

Metro is in the process of replacing the three escalators and installing a staircase at the station. They have said one new unit will be in place on Monday.

No word if it will be be flip-flop resistant.
