Flood restrictions slow MARC, VRE lines

3:38 p.m. Update: The Virginia Railway Express will operate under flood restrictions between Rolling Road and Broad Run. Riders can expect 30-minute delays along the Manassas Line.

Original post: Travel on the Maryland Area Regional Commuter service’s Brunswick Line will be restricted Wednesday afternoon due to flash flood warnings issued by CSX, the company that owns the tracks.

MARC trains will operate at reduced speed, especially over bridges and culverts, causing delays of 10 to 20 minutes, the Maryland Transit Administration said.

CSX also operates the Brunswick Line, which carries passengers between Washington and points north and west, including Frederick and Martinsburg, W.Va.
