Flying? Weather delays likely.

7:10 p.m. Update: Storms are affecting a large portion of the country and airlines across the country. For example, Delta Air Lines says its flights in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest are being affected by thunderstorms and fog. American Airines also urged passengers to check the status of their flights.

The airports advise you to check with your airline to see if your flight is affected. Here are some resources:

6:25 p.m. Update: As we slip into the evening, delays have become more widespread, with Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas, JFK, Newark and San Francisco all reporting delays for traffic headed for those destinations, according to the Federal Aviation Administrations. Delays are almost two hours for traffic headed to Dallas and 60 to 90 minutes elsewhere. .

Original post: While Washington-area airports are not reporting delays, stormy weather is affecting traffic at some airports in the Northeast, a concern if you’re traveling to the region or making a connection today.

There have been some flight cancellations reported. In addition some flights destined for Newark and LaGuardia airports are experiencing delays of 90 minutes to almost 120 minutes. Lesser delays are reported in Philadelphia.
