Original Post:

Hurricane Irene is heading our way this weekend, and we are under a tropical storm watch, but there’s still one work day between us and that storm. People are still going to be heading to and from work, even as they prepare for Irene.

Today should be a muggy, summery day with potential showers in the morning and thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the Capital Weather Gang. Some schools and landmarks also remain closed in the wake of this week’s earthquake.

We’ll be keeping tabs on any headaches, issues or problems we hear about on the roads this morning. Make sure to tell us about anything you see out there — either in the comments below or via Twitter (@DrGridlock).

So far:

An accident on I-270 South before Montgomery Avenue is blocking both local lanes and two shoulders.
