I-95 North backed up approaching Springfield Interchange

9 A.M. Update:

I-95 North is once again very, very jammed approaching the Springfield Interchange.

Meanwhile, the heavy delays on I-395 North have largely cleared up approaching the 14th Street Bridge.

Work on the southbound Key Bridge is blocking the right/curb lane there, according to police. Stay to the left and expect some headaches heading from Georgetown into Virginia.

Remember: School resumes today in Prince George’s County. That means roughly 120,000 students — as well as teachers and other staff members — are all flocking to the county’s schools. Get ready to encounter school buses and the usual congestion near schools before the school day begins and after it ends.

The right exit lane from northbound I-95 to eastbound MD 198 will close between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday so crews can work, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

8:55 A.M. Update:

An accident on Van Dorn Street near Oakwood Road is blocking the northbound right lane and right shoulder.

8:45 A.M. Update:

The accident on eastbound I-66 at Nutley Street is now just blocking the right shoulder. The right lane has reopened, but delays stretch back to about Chain Bridge Road.

8:30 A.M. Update:

An accident on eastbound I-66 at Nutley Street is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

8:20 A.M. Update:

Delays persist on I-395 North approaching the 14th Street Bridge.

8:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-270 South at the W. Montgomery Avenue exit has been cleared from the shoulder.

MARC trains 894 and 878 are each running about 10 minutes behind schedule.

7:50 A.M. Update:

The delays on I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange have cleared up, with very little congestion and no backups on that stretch.

The accident on I-395 North just after the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder. The right lane has reopened. There are some delays on I-395 North approaching Edsall Road, but nothing major.

I-395 North is badly congested approaching the 14th Street Bridge, with delays stretching back nearly to Ridge Road.

The accident on I-270 South at the W. Montgomery Avenue exit is blocking one of the shoulders.

The disabled vehicle on VA 123 near Burke Centre Parkway has been cleared.

7:35 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-270 South at the W. Montgomery Avenue exit could create problems there.

7:20 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-395 North just after the Springfield Interchange is still blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

7:05 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on VA 123 near Burke Centre Parkway is blocking the left shoulder.

The accident on I-95 North at the Fairfax County Parkway has been cleared from the shoulder.

DC Water is working on T Street between 14th and 15th streets NW, so watch for potential delays there.

6:45 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-395 North just after the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

6:30 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on I-395 North at Duke Street is blocking the right shoulder.

An accident on I-95 North at the Fairfax County Parkway is blocking the right shoulder.

MARC train 890 is running about 8 to 10 minutes behind schedule.

6:10 A.M. Update:

MARC train 890 will board riders on the opposite track at the Rockville station.

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

It’s going to be a cloudy day with fog in the morning and potential rain this afternoon and evening, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

So far:

— An accident on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange was blocking all northbound lanes, but the lanes have just reopened. The accident is still blocking the left shoulder. Heavy delays stretch back from the interchange to the Fairfax County Parkway.
