I-95 S reopens near Susquehanna River Bridge; major delays

1:05 p.m. Update: Interstate 95 southbound reopened following an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV that backed up traffic for several miles.

10:03 a.m. Update: State transportation officials report that one lane is now open, and the detour has been lifted. However, there are major southbound delays.

Original post: Interstate 95 southbound is closed just past Exit 93, Bainbridge Road due to an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV. The site is just north of the Susquehanna River Bridge. Authorities report that the closure may last up to two hours.

Alternate routes include Routes 1 or 40. Southbound traffic is being diverted at North East Road. Backs-ups are currenttly running about eight miles, with delays of more than 30 minutes.
