Keeping tabs on the Monday A.M. commute

9:30 a.m. Update | U.S. 29 blocked in Silver Spring

An accident on Colesville Road/Columbia Pike/U.S. 29 at the Beltway in Silver Spring is blocking northbound traffic and one southbound lane. Avoid the area.

A disabled vehicle on I-66 East at Nutley Road is blocking the right shoulder.

9:25 a.m. Update | Georgia Ave. accident cleared

The accident at Georgia and Iowa avenues NW has been cleared and all lanes reopened, according to police.

9:15 a.m. Update | Metro delays cleared

Metro reports that Orange and Blue Line trains have begun normal service near Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom.

9 a.m. Update | Blue, Orange Line delays

Delays continue for Orange and Blue Line trains around Rosslyn after the earlier train was off-loaded at Foggy Bottom.

8:45 a.m. Update | Georgia Ave. blocked in NW D.C.

Georgia Avenue is closed at Iowa Avenue NW due to the accident there. Avoid the area.

An Orange Line train heading to New Carrollton was off-loaded at Foggy Bottom, so expect delays for Orange and Blue Line trains around Rosslyn.

8:30 a.m. Update | Crash at Georgia and Iowa avenues NW

The accident at Georgia and Iowa avenues NW has blocked the intersection. Avoid the area.

An accident is also blocking southbound Georgia Avenue at Kansas Avenue NW.

8:15 a.m. Update | Accident in NW D.C.

An accident at Georgia and Iowa avenues NW involving two vehicles could create delays, so avoid that intersection.

The vehicle fire on the eastbound Intercounty Connector before Layhill Road has been cleared from the roadway. One of the shoulders remains blocked.

7:55 a.m. Update | MARC Penn Line delays

MARC Penn Line train 415 is now 15 minutes late, while train 517 is about 8 to 10 minutes late following train 415.

7:35 a.m. Update | Intercounty Connector lanes blocked

MARC Penn Line train 415 is heading to Odenton to begin service southbound to Washington, though some delays are possible. It could run about 10 to 15 minutes late leaving Odenton.

A vehicle fire on the eastbound Intercounty Connector before Layhill Road is blocking two lanes and one of the shoulders.

An accident on northbound U.S. 1 at Lukens Lane is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

7:15 a.m. Update | Crash on I-66 East

An accident on I-66 East before Sudley Road is blocking the left shoulder.

7:05 a.m. Update | MARC Penn Line problems

MARC Penn Line train 415 has been canceled from Baltimore to BWI this morning. The train was expected to run late due to an equipment issue stemming from the earlier mechanical problem with train 400, which was also canceled. But now there’s no available equipment due to the earlier mechanical issue, so the train was nixed.

The next train will be train 517. Again, expect crowding on that train.

Meanwhile, Metro reports that normal service has resumed at Twinbrook and White Flint.

7 a.m. Update | Bethesda escalators restored

Metro reports that escalator service has been restored in Bethesda.

6:55 a.m. Update | Additional Red Line issues

A train malfunction at Twinbrook could add to Red Line issues heading to Glenmont.

6:40 a.m. Update | I-95 North delays

I-95 North is very slow approaching the Springfield Interchange. These delays only worsen as the morning rush continues, so expect to hit delays here.

6:37 a.m. Update | Red Line delays

Red Line riders: A train malfunction at White Flint could lead to delays for trains heading to Glenmont.

6:25 a.m. Update | MARC issues

MARC Penn line train 400 is canceled this morning due to mechanical issues, according to the Maryland Transit Administration. The next northbound Penn Line train is train 502. Expect crowding on that train.

The utility problem on southbound Wisconsin Avenue at Bradley Boulevard/Lane in Bethesda has been cleared from the shoulder.

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

We’re in for nice weather to begin the week, with rain holding off until Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Capital Weather Gang. It will be a bit chilly this morning, so grab a jacket if you’re heading out early.

So far this morning:

— The entrance escalators are not working at the Bethesda Metro station due to a mechanical issue. The station remains open and buses have been requested.

— A utility problem on southbound Wisconsin Avenue at Bradley Boulevard/Lane in Bethesda is blocking one of the southbound shoulders.

— There are no reported Metro, MARC or VRE delays right now.
