Rush-hour commuters are experiencing 20 minutes delays on the Red Line, in both directions.
The lags are the result of switch problems that occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the Grosvenor-Strathmore stop, according to Metro spokeswoman Caroline Lukas.
Operators have adjusted the length of their routes to adjust to the delays. Trains are now turning around at various points along the route, based on the flow of traffic. For example, Lukas said, the train might stop at Friendship Heights and turn back, rather than chugging all the way to the line’s usual end at Shady Grove.
It is unclear when the schedule will return to normal.
