Man falls down escalator at Rosslyn

A man fell down an escalator at Rosslyn Metro station Friday, but the extent of his injuries were unknown, according to Metro and emergency officials.

The Arlington County Fire Department said the incident occurred about 6:44 p.m.

Dan Stessel, Metro’s chief spokesman, said at 7:25 p.m. that there was one witness to the incident who witness reported that “the man placed himself on the metal panel between two escalator units and subsequently fell an unknown distance down the ascending escalator.”

The escalator was in service, Stessel said.

The man was transported to Virginia Hospital Center, he said.
