Man killed trying to cross I-395

6:55 p.m. update:Virginia State Police have identified the pedestrian as Fekadu Ledi, 64, of Arlington.

Original post: A man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he tried to walk across I-395 in Arlington, Virginia State Police said.

The man, who was not identified, managed to cross the highway’s southbound, HOV and three northbound lanes, before he was hit by a car about 4 p.m., said Sgt. Steven Mittendorff, a spokesman. The man was dead at the scene, just north of the Glebe Road exit, authorities said.

The driver of the four-door sedan stayed at the scene, Mittendorff said. Two right lanes of the highway and the Glebe Road exit remain closed as police investigate.
