Metro has announced plans for track work this week and during the weekend that will affect all routes but the Yellow Line.
The weekend work will create delays that should amount to 20 to 30 minutes for most riders. The weeknight and off-peak daytime maintenance should not create significant delays, because trains don’t run as frequently during those hours.
Here’s the weekend schedule for maintenance that begins at 10 p.m. Friday and continues through the midnight closing on Sunday.
Red Line: Trains will share one track between the Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square stations during the continuing repairs at Farragut North.
From 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, trains will leave every 10 minutes from the ends of the line at Shady Grove and Glenmont. Every other train from Shady Grove will terminate at Dupont Circle. Every other train from Glenmont will terminate at Union Station.
At all other times during the weekend, trains will leave Shady Grove and Glenmont every 20 minutes.
The last train from Glenmont will leave 11 minutes earlier than usual, at 2:26 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, and at 11:26 p.m. Sunday.
Add half an hour to normal travel times because of the single-tracking.
Blue Line: Trains will share a track between Pentagon City and Arlington Cemetery while workers upgrade the track structure. Add 20 minutes to your normal travel time.
Orange Line: Trains will share a track between Vienna and West Falls Church while workers replace crossties and insulators. Every other train will terminate at West Falls Church and return to New Carrollton.
Green Line: Trains will share one track between the Southern Avenue and Naylor Road stations during work on rail fasteners. Add 20 minutes to normal travel times.
Red Line: From 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. each day, trains will share a track between Shady Grove and Twinbrook while crews work on the rails and ties.
From 10 p.m. through the midnight closing Monday through Thursday, trains will share a track between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor during maintenance on the rails and repairs to leaks in the tunnel.
Trains also will share a track between Takoma and Forest Glen during platform repairs.
Blue Line: From 10 p.m. through closing Tuesday through Thursday, trains will share a track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road. Workers will be repairing the slab under the tracks.
Green Line: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, trains will share a track between Naylor Road and Branch Avenue during work on the rails and ties.
From 10 p.m. to closing Monday and Tuesday, trains also will share a track between Greenbelt and College Park while crews work on the rails. From 10 p.m. through closing Wednesday and Thursday, trains will share a track between Mount Vernon Square and Georgia Avenue, where crews are preparing for a switch replacement.
