Monitoring the rainy, gray A.M. commute

9:05 A.M. Update:

Congestion remains a problem in Northern Virginia: The inner loop of the Beltway is jammed up around Little River Turnpike and Braddock Road. I-395 North is also slow on and off between the Springfield Interchange and the 14th Street Bridge.

An accident on eastbound Braddock Road at Guinea Road is blocking the left shoulder.

A disabled vehicle on I-95 South just after the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder.

8:50 A.M. Update:

MARC Brunswick Line train 880 is running 10 to 12 minutes behind schedule.

A commuter reports an accident on southbound I-270 near Montrose Road in the express lanes; no reported lane closures, but there are delays.

8:35 A.M. Update:

Georgia Avenue has fully reopened at Seminary Road. The earlier accident has been cleared, and though delays remain, they are clearing up.

Red Line trains are delayed to Glenmont following an earlier train malfunction near Medical Center. A rider reported being off-loaded at Medical Center due to a door malfunction.

8:30 A.M. Update:

Orange and Blue Line trains are experiencing delays due to a sick customer at Foggy Bottom.

A commuter reports delays on eastbound U.S. 50 in Northern Virginia.

8:20 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on I-395 North at Glebe Road is still blocking the left lane.

An accident on the inner loop south of Braddock Road is blocking the right shoulder.

An accident on I-270 at the exit for W. Montgomery Avenue could cause headaches there. The direction hasn’t been reported yet, nor have any lane closures, but just a head’s up if you are heading that way.

8:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on southbound Georgia Avenue at Seminary Road is still blocking multiple lanes, with only one southbound lane getting by this spot. Delays are worsening on Georgia Avenue, as you might expect. Avoid the area if you can help it.

8 A.M. Update:

Adding to the headaches on I-395 North: A disabled vehicle is blocking the left northbound lane at Glebe Road.

7:45 A.M. Update:

I-395 North is slow at several of the usual spots in Northern Virginia. There are delays at the 14th Street Bridge, around King Street and before Duke Street. In other words, expect to encounter congestion between the Beltway and the 14th Street Bridge.

7:30 A.M. Update:

An accident on southbound Georgia Avenue at Seminary Road is blocking multiple lanes and creating heavy delays. Only one southbound lane is moving right now. Avoid the area

An accident on Route 665/Waples Mill Road is blocking the northbound left lane at Lee Highway/U.S. 50 in Providence. This is just south of where Lee Highway hits I-66, so it could cause problems for traffic heading that way.

Arlington Transit route 75 is running 18 minutes behind schedule.

7:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on Edsall Road at Backlick Road in Springfield is blocking the eastbound shoulder.

7:10 A.M. Update:

MARC Brunswick Line train 874 is running 10 to 12 minutes late due to the speed restrictions.

6:55 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-66 East at Sudley Road is blocking the right shoulder. This spot is already pretty congested, and an accident on the shoulder won’t help anything. Expect delays.

6:40 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-95 North just before Woodbridge is blocking the right shoulder and could lead to some delays.

6:25 A.M. Update:

Delays are beginning to slow traffic on I-66 East at Chain Bridge Road.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, tell us in the comments section below or by tweeting @drgridlock.

There’s a decent chance we see rain and thunderstorms, both in the morning and in the afternoon, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

So far:

— MARC riders: All trains from Martinsburg are going to be 5 to 10 minutes late this morning due to speed restrictions between Martinsburg and Brunswick. Aditionally, train 870 is 8 to 10 minutes late owing to freight traffic.

— Work on the Route 50/Arlington Boulevard interchange at Courthouse Road and 10th Street continues through Friday. Remember, lane closures will occur on westbound Arlington Boulevard between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. this week. (Eastbound lane closures are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
