Heavy delays on westbound I-66 at Beltway

8:40 A.M. Update:

The accident on the eastbound Dulles Greenway at the Claiborne Parkway has been cleared from the main lanes. Only the right shoulder is still blocked. There are still going to be heavy delays approaching this spot.

And big, big delays remain on westbound I-66 approaching the Beltway due to the earlier accident. The backups stretch from the Beltway all the way back to Rosslyn, so avoid this route if you can help it.

8:15 A.M. Update:

The accident on the eastbound Dulles Greenway at the Claiborne Parkway is still blocking eastbound lanes. but traffic is still getting by on the left shoulder.

8:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway has been cleared and all lanes reopened. Heavy delays still remain approaching this area, so avoid that route if you can.

7:55 A.M. Update:

Problems persist for drivers in Northern Virginia: The accident on the eastbound Dulles Greenway at the Claiborne Parkway is still blocking eastbound traffic. And the accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway continues to block the right two lanes.

The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the outer loop of the Beltway at the New Hampshire Avenue exit.

7:35 A.M. Update:

An accident is blocking the eastbound Dulles Greenway at the Claiborne Parkway. This is in Ashburn, shortly before Dulles International Airport, so if you need to head east from that area stick to the Leesburg Pike.

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway continues to block the right two lanes.

7:30 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at the New Hampshire Avenue exit is blocking the left merge lane.

An accident on northbound I-395 at the 6th Street exit is slowing traffic there, according to D.C. police.

7:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 is blocking the center and right lanes at the Beltway. Traffic is only getting by in the left lane.

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Connecticut Avenue could also cause delays.

7:05 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway has slowed traffic to a crawl approaching the Beltway. The right lane has basically come to a halt at the Leesburg Pike, while the left lane is inching forward.

The accident on westbound U.S. 50 at Church Road has been cleared.

There’s some debris on the outer loop of the Beltway before the exit for Kenilworth Avenue, so watch out for delays.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The accident on eastbound I-66 at Sudley Road is now only blocking the left shoulder; the left lane has reopened.

The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the outer loop of the Beltway at Braddock Road.

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 at Church Road could cause delays there.

6:30 A.M. Update:

An accident on eastbound I-66 at Sudley Road is blocking the left lane and left shoulder.

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at Braddock Road is blocking the right shoulder.

6:20 A.M. Update:

I-95 North is fairly slow approaching the Springfield Interchange.

Good morning, commuters! December begins today, and with it starts meteorological winter, according to the Capital Weather Gang. It’s going to be sunny and chilly out there, so don’t forget a jacket.
