Monitoring the A.M. commute: Northbound Third Street Tunnel lanes blocked

9:45 a.m. Update | Inner loop lane blocked

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at the Little River Turnpike is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

The accident in the northbound Third Street Tunnel at Massachusetts Avenue is still blocking the two right lanes. Again, stay to the left and expect severe delays.

The vehicle fire on the outer loop of the Beltway near the B.W. Parkway exit has been cleared.

9:25 a.m. Update | Third Street Tunnel lanes blocked

An accident in the northbound Third Street Tunnel at Massachusetts Avenue is blocking the two right lanes. Stay to the left and expect severe delays.

The disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway before Braddock Road has been cleared.

9:20 a.m. Update | Beltway issues in Md., Va.

A vehicle fire on the outer loop of the Beltway near the B.W. Parkway exit could snarl traffic there.

A disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway before Braddock Road is blocking the right shoulder.

9 a.m. Update | I-95 North crash cleared

The crash on I-95 North before Powder Mill Road has been cleared from the shoulder.

8:50 a.m. Update | Crash cleared from I-270 South

The accident on I-270 South before Quince Orchard Road has been cleared and all lanes reopened.

The crash on I-95 North before Powder Mill Road is still blocking one of the shoulders.

8:45 a.m. Update | MARC Penn Line delays

MARC Penn Line train 523 is running 20 minutes late due to the late arrival of equipment, stemming from delays experienced by train 502.

8:25 a.m. Update | Delays cleared on Green, Yellow and Red lines

Metro reports that the Green, Yellow and Red lines are no longer delayed.

8:20 a.m. Update | Crash on I-270 South

An accident on I-270 South before Quince Orchard Road is blocking the right acceleration lane and the right shoulder.

8:15 a.m. Update | I-95 North fully reopens in Lorton

The accident on I-95 North in Lorton has been cleared from the shoulder.

The crash on I-95 North before Powder Mill Road is blocking one of the shoulders.

8:12 a.m. Update | Yellow/Green Line delays

Yellow and Green Line trains heading to Greenbelt are now experiencing some delays due to a train malfunction at the Archives stop.

8:10 a.m. Update | Southbound Wisconsin Ave. reopens

Wisconsin Avenue has reopened at Western Avenue in Northwest Washington, according to police. Expect delays to linger as traffic begins moving through this area again.

8:05 a.m. Update | I-95 North lanes reopen in Lorton

The accident on I-95 North in Lorton is now only blocking the left shoulder. The left two lanes have reopened.

8 a.m. Update | Red Line delays continue

The disabled Red Line train outside Tenleytown is on the move, but expect residual delays for Red Line trains heading to Glenmont.

D.C. police are responding to an accident at 18th Street and Independence Avenue SE.

7:50 a.m. Update | Red Line issues

Red Line riders are experiencing some headaches this morning. A Red Line train bound for Shady Grove offloaded at Rhode Island Avenue, and now a train heading for Silver Spring is having brake problems outside Tenleytown.

7:45 a.m. Update | I-95 North lanes still blocked in Lorton

The accident on I-95 North in Lorton is still blocking the left two lanes and the left shoulder. Again, expect major delays heading this way.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Old Georgetown Road has been cleared.

7:40 a.m. Update | I-395 North lanes reopen

The accident on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard has been cleared from the roadway and all lanes reopened. Expect the lingering delays to lead right into the usual delays this road sees during the morning commute.

7:35 a.m. Update | Bicyclist taken to hospital after accident

Southbound Wisconsin Avenue remains closed at Western Avenue in Northwest Washington as police investigate an accident where a vehicle hit a person riding a bicycle, according to Officer Tisha Gant.

The bicycle rider, who police would not identify, has been taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be severe.

The southbound lanes will remain closed while police investigate this crash, and police gave no timetable on when the roadway would reopen. Avoid this area and expect severe delays in the vicinity.

7:30 a.m. Update | I-95 North lanes blocked in Lorton

An accident on I-95 North in Lorton is blocking the left two lanes and the left shoulder. Expect major delays.

The accident on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard is now blocking the left lane and the left shoulder.

7:25 a.m. Update | I-395 North lanes still blocked in Arlington

The accident on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard is still blocking the left two lanes and left shoulder. This route generally gets very congested as the morning continues, but these blocked lanes will exacerbate the delays.

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Old Georgetown Road could lead to delays there.

7:15 a.m. Update | Crash still blocking Wisconsin Ave.

The accident on southbound Wisconsin Avenue is in the 5300 block of that road, according to police. That puts it just south of the Metro station and on the D.C. side of the Maryland-District border. There is no other information available right now, but the southbound lanes remain blocked.

7:05 a.m. Update | Crash blocking I-395 North lanes

An accident on I-395 North at Washington Boulevard is blocking the left two lanes and left shoulder.

7 a.m. Update | Crash closes southbound Wisconsin Ave. at Western Ave.

Southbound Wisconsin Avenue is closed at Western Avenue due to an accident, blocking that roadway right at the D.C.-Maryland border.

The vehicle fire on the Dulles Access lanes has been cleared and all lanes reopened.

6:45 a.m. Update | Delays on I-95, I-395 North

I-95 North is slowing down at the Springfield Interchange. And I-395 North is also experiencing some delays just north of the interchange, so expect delays if you’re heading that way.

6:30 a.m. Update | Dulles Access lanes blocked by vehicle fire

A vehicle fire on the eastbound Dulles Access Highway/VA-90004 is blocking all eastbound lanes at Wiehle Avenue. Traffic is being diverted onto the toll road from the access lanes. And the left lane of the eastbound Dulles Toll Road is also blocked at Wiehle Avenue.

6:27 a.m. Update | I-95 North accident cleared

The accident on I-95 North in Triangle has also been cleared from the shoulder.

6:25 a.m. Update | Outer loop crashes cleared

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before Connecticut Avenue has been cleared from the shoulder.

And an accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Georgia Avenue has also been cleared.

6:20 a.m. Update | Potential delays on I-370 East

Debris on eastbound I-370 at Shady Grove Road could create delays there.

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

Thursday night’s rain might segue to some Friday morning showers, according to the Capital Weather Gang. And there could be other showers later in the day, so be prepared for potentially rainy morning and afternoon commutes.

So far this morning:

— An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before Connecticut Avenue is blocking one of the shoulders.

— An accident on I-95 North in Triangle is blocking the left shoulder.

— There are no reported Metro, VRE or MARC delays thus far.
