11:15 A.M. Update: The District Department of Transportation reports that the Frederick Douglass Bridge is closed for testing of the barrier gates. DDOT urged drivers to avoid South Capitol Street and use the 11th Street Bridge or Pennsylvania Avenue to cross the Anacostia.

8:50 A.M. Update:

Traffic remains jammed up on I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange and on the outer loop of the Beltway near Telegraph Road. These delays began due to lane closures earlier in the morning, and even though all lanes have reopened, bad congestion remains. Try to avoid these routes if you can help it.

8:45 A.M. Update:

An accident in the southbound Third Street Tunnel is blocking the tunnel entrance from Massachusetts Avenue.

8:35 A.M. Update:

The accident on southbound New Hampshire Avenue at Piney Branch Road has been cleared and all lanes reopened. There are still heavy delays on New Hampshire Avenue as a result.

8:30 A.M. Update:

The accident involving a tractor trailer on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road has finally been cleared and all lanes reopened. There are very, very heavy delays approaching this spot.

I-95 North is also incredibly snarled approaching the Springfield Interchange.

The northbound G.W. Parkway is heavily backed up approaching the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge, according to multiple drivers.

The disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway north of the American Legion Bridge has been cleared.

The disabled vehicle on I-270 South before W. Montgomery Avenuehas also been cleared.

8:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange has been cleared and the lanes reopened.

A disabled vehicle on southbound North Capitol Street right after Massachusetts Avenue (next to Union Station) is blocking the right lane.

A disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway north of the American Legion Bridge could cause delays there.

And another disabled vehicle on I-270 South is blocking one lane before W. Montgomery Avenue.

7:50 A.M. Update:

The accident on New Hampshire Avenue is still blocking all southbound lanes at Piney Branch Road. It’s also blocking one northbound lane at the same area. Avoid New Hampshire Avenue if you can help it. Try heading to University Boulevard, Baltimore Avenue/U.S. 1 or even Georgia Avenue (which would take you through downtown Silver Spring, if you’re heading south).

7:35 A.M. Update:

An accident on New Hampshire Avenue is blocking all southbound lanes at Piney Branch Road. Avoid the area.

There’s a single car accident on South Dakota Avenue at Irving Street in Northeast Washington. Lanes are open, but traffic is slow passing the scene, according to D.C. police.

No change on the lane closures on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange (the right two lanes remain blocked) or on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road (the right two lanes remain blocked). If you haven’t left yet and can stay away from those routes, we recommend it.

7:15 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange is now blocking the right two lanes and right shoulder. There are very, very heavy delays on I-95 North.

The accident involving a tractor trailer on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road is still blocking the right two lanes and right shoulder.

The accident on Sudley Road near Lee Highway has been cleared from the through lanes and the shoulders.

6:55 A.M. Update:

An accident involving a tractor trailer on the outer loop of the Beltway at Telegraph Road is blocking the right two lanes and the right shoulder. Stay to the left, but there are already heavy delays building in this area.

6:45 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-95 North is blocking the northbound right lane and right shoulder at the Springfield Interchange. Northbound traffic is really jammed up approaching this spot.

6:20 A.M. Update:

Icy conditions have been reported on Chain Bridge Road in Northwest Washington. Use caution along that roadway.

6:10 A.M. Update:

An accident on Sudley Road near Lee Highway is blocking the through lanes and the southbound and northbound shoulders.

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help: If you hear about any congestion, delays, problems or anything at all, tell us in the comments section below or by tweeting @drgridlock.

Today will be mostly sunny and chilly, but it will be warmer than yesterday, according to the Capital Weather Gang. If you are driving and you encounter any remaining standing water, remember to turn around. Don’t try to force your way through it.
