Inner loop snarled in Virginia

8:35 A.M. Update:

All lanes have reopened on I-270 North at Middlebrook Road. One of the shoulders remains blocked.

The inner loop of the Beltway remains a mess from the Springfield Interchange to I-66. Traffic is moving more smoothly north of I-66, though it’s still pretty crowded.

8:20 A.M. Update:

One of the lanes has reopened on I-270 North at Middlebrook Road. One northbound lane and one of the shoulders remain blocked.

8:15 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-270 North at Middlebrook Road is blocking two northbound lanes and one of the shoulders.

The accident on westbound U.S. 50 before Martin Luther King Jr. Highway has been cleared, but heavy delays linger in the area.

8:05 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 before Martin Luther King Jr. Highway is blocking one of the shoulders.

The accident on westbound U.S. 50 at Collington Road/MD 197 has been cleared and the lanes and shoulder reopened.

7:55 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-395 North before Washington Boulevard has been cleared and the lanes reopened.

An accident on I-295 South at Howard Road SE could cause issues there.

7:50 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-395 North before Washington Boulevard is blocking the left lane and left shoulder.

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 at Collington Road/MD 197 is blocking two lanes and one of the shoulders.

7:30 A.M. Update:

The disabled vehicle on I-270 South at Father Hurley Boulevard has been cleared from the shoulder.

7:20 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on I-270 South at Father Hurley Boulevard is blocking one of the southbound shoulders.

Traffic is beginning to slow down on I-395 North at the 14th Street Bridge. These delays typically hang around all morning, so from this point on expect headaches there.

7 A.M. Update:

Delays stemming from the accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Leesburg Pike have worsened. Expect issues to linger on the inner loop for a while. 

6:45 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Leesburg Pike has been moved to the right shoulder. The right lane has reopened, but there are very heavy delays approaching this spot.

6:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Leesburg Pike is blocking the right lane.

I-395 North has an early bit of congestion around Seminary Road and Duke Street.

6:15 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Leesburg Pike could cause delays.

Good morning, commuters! It’ll be another nice day, weather-wise, according to the Capital Weather Gang. There are some showers expected later in the day, but nothing this morning.
