Monitoring the Thursday A.M. commute: Outer loop jammed in Md.

9:30 A.M. Update | Outer loop, I-270 remain slow in Md.

I-395 North is very congested from the interchange on up to the 14th Street Bridge, with the worst delays coming at Glebe Road and beyond.

A disabled vehicle on I-395 North near Washington Boulevard is blocking the right shoulder, which could exacerbate problems in that area.

The outer loop of the Beltway remains very clogged in Maryland. The biggest trouble spots remain the areas around River Road and Colesville Road.

I-270 South is snarled from Gaithersburg down through the spur. Traffic is moving, but it is very congested and progressing slowly.

9:25 A.M. Update | Disabled vehicle on outer loop

The disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway before New Hampshire Avenue has been cleared.

9:20 A.M. Update | Disabled vehicle in Third Street Tunnel

A disabled vehicle in the northbound Third Street Tunnel near Massachusetts Avenue is blocking the left lane.

9:05 A.M. Update | Disabled vehicle on outer loop

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway before New Hampshire Avenue could create delays there.

9 A.M. Update | Traffic signals working again in NE D.C.

The signals appear to be working again at Montana and New York avenues in Northeast Washington.

8:45 A.M. Update | Traffic signals out in NE D.C.

Traffic signals are out at Montana and New York avenues in Northeast Washington.

8:33 A.M. Update | Blue Line service returning to normal

Metro reports that normal service has resumed on the Blue line, but watch for any lingering delays or crowding.

8:25 A.M. Update | Outer loop, I-270 still jammed in Md.

The outer loop of the Beltway is very snarled near the American Legion Bridge. I-270 South is also still heavily delayed approaching the spur.

8:15 A.M. Update | Accidents cleared in Md.

The accident on I-95 South after Sandy Spring Road has been cleared and all lanes reopened.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway near the American Legion Bridge has also been cleared from the roadway.

8:12 A.M. Update | Blue Line delayed due to disabled train

Blue Line trains are single-tracking between Benning Road and Capitol Heights due to a disabled train near Capitol Heights. Expect delays.

The Blue Line train heading for Largo that had a brake problem is on the move and riders are getting off at Capitol Heights.

8:03 A.M. Update | Accidents on Beltway, I-95 in Md.

An accident on I-95 South after Sandy Spring Road is blocking one southbound lane and one of the shoulders.

And an accident on the outer loop of the Beltway near the American Legion Bridge is blocking the right acceleration lane.

8 A.M. Update | Potential delays for Blue, Red Line riders

Metro riders on the Blue Line could encounter delays due to a train bound for Largo that has a brake problem near Capitol Heights.

And a Red Line train heading for Silver Spring is off-loading at Judiciary Square due to a door problem, so watch for delays there as well.

7:47 A.M. Update | Tree cleared from MARC tracks

The tree south of Greenbelt on the MARC Camden Line tracks has been cleared and all tracks are open again. Train 842 is still running 25 to 30 minutes late, but no other trains heading south are expected to encounter any delays.

7:35 A.M. Update | MARC Camden Line still delayed

MARC Camden Line trains are running on a single track between Riverdale and Greenbelt. Train 842 is expected to run 25 to 30 minutes late.

7:32 A.M. Update | Red Line train off-loads at White Flint

A Red Line train heading for Glenmont is off-loading at White Flint, so some delays are possible.

7:20 A.M. Update | Outer loop slow in Md., Va.

The outer loop of the Beltway remains slow in Maryland near Colesville Road due to the earlier accident. There’s also serious congestion on the outer loop in Virginia near the Springfield Interchange.

And we’re hearing reports of Blue and Orange Line trains experiencing problems in downtown Washington, with trains reportedly holding or having other issues at Federal Center SW and Smithsonian.

7:05 A.M. Update | MARC Camden Line delays continue

MARC Camden Line train 845 is running 10 minutes late and will board at the opposite track at Greenbelt, College Park and Riverdale.

6:53 A.M. Update | I-270 South clogged in Md.

Southbound I-270 is very congested essentially from Germantown all the way down to the spur. Once you get near Rockville things slow down considerably, so expect delays if you’re heading that way.

6:45 A.M. Update | Outer loop still slow in Md.

The outer loop of the Beltway remains jammed up in Maryland after the earlier accident near Colesville Road.

6:40 A.M. Update | MARC Camden Line train canceled, another delayed

MARC Camden Line train 841 is terminating at the Greenbelt station due to the tree on the tracks. Riders are going to transfer onto train 843, which will run about 25 to 30 minutes late and make an additional stop at Riverdale. Expect crowding on train 843 due to the extra passengers.

Train 840 to Baltimore will start out at the Riverdale station.

6:25 A.M. Update | Accident cleared from outer loop shoulder

The accident on the outer loop just after Colesville Road has been cleared from the shoulder. Again, heavy delays still remain approaching this spot.

6:17 A.M. Update | MARC train stopped

MARC Camden Line train 841 is stopped south of Greenbelt because a tree is down across both sets of tracks.

6:05 A.M. Update | Outer loop lanes reopen

Lanes have reopened on the outer loop of the Beltway after Colesville Road. The right shoulder remains blocked. Expect lingering delays approaching this area.

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help.

The lovely weather continues with sun, light breezes and mild temperatures, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

So far this morning:

— An accident on the outer loop just after Colesville Road is blocking the left three lanes. Delays are getting heavier and heavier.

— MARC train 843 won’t have a working bathroom this morning due to a mechanical issue. No other MARC trains should have the same problem.
