Third Street Tunnel repairs scheduled

3 P.M. Update: The District Department of Transportation says the the left lane in the southbound Third Street Tunnel will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday for road repairs.

10:45 A.M. Update:

— The District Department of Transportation will be making pothole repairs on northbound I-295’s curb lane on Tuesday and Wednesday. The work will stretch from East Capitol Street to Benning Road in Northeast Washington. Work will be done from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., so watch out for delays along that stretch if you commute during that window.

— Canal Road will be closed on Tuesday between Foxhall Road and Arizona Avenue NW from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

8:35 A.M. Update:

The outer loop of the Beltway is still very backed up around Georgia Avenue. Additionally, southbound Georgia Avenue is snarled heading to the Beltway.

Eastbound I-66 is typically slow approaching the Beltway, but eastbound traffic is also crawling inside the Beltway this morning. If you’re heading that way, expect to spend some extra time on the road.

The inner loop of the Beltway is pretty jammed from the Springfield Interchange to I-66.

Westbound New York Avenue is very congested as you enter Northeast Washington and head towards Florida Avenue.

And watch out for two things that could impact traffic later this morning and early afternoon:

— The District Department of Transportation will be making pothole repairs on northbound I-295’s curb lane on Tuesday and Wednesday. The work will stretch from East Capitol Street to Benning Road in Northeast Washington. Work will be done from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., so watch out for delays along that stretch if you commute during that window.

— For later this morning: Canal Road will be closed on Tuesday between Foxhall Road and Arizona Avenue NW from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

8:15 A.M. Update:

An accident at 16th Place and Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast Washington could cause delays, according to D.C. police.

8 A.M. Update:

The disabled vehicles on the Beltway (on the outer loop at New Hampshire Avenue and on the inner loopat the B.W. Parkway) have both been cleared.

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at I-66 is blocking the right shoulder. This spot is usually backed up, so expect this to exacerbate delays this morning.

7:40 A.M. Update:

The disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at New Hampshire Avenue is on the shoulder.

There’s also a disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway at the B.W. Parkway exit.

7:25 A.M. Update:

The earlier accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at Georgia Avenue has been cleared, but heavy delays remain.

7:20 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway at New Hampshire Avenue could slow traffic.

An accident on I-95 North in Lorton is blocking the left shoulder, so watch out for potential delays there.

7:10 A.M. Update:

The accidents on I-395 North at Seminary Road and King Street have both been cleared from the shoulders. Traffic is still pretty slow approaching those spots.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The water main break on the inner loop of the Beltway between the exits for Old Georgetown Road and Rockville Pike has been cleared and the shoulder reopened.

6:45 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-395 North at King Street is blocking the left shoulder. Another accident is blocking the left shoulder near Seminary Road. Northbound traffic is moving pretty slowly from Duke Street to King Street right now.

I-95 North is delayed approaching the Fairfax County Parkway.

6:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Georgia Avenue/MD 97 has been cleared and the lanes reopened.

A water main break on the inner loop of the Beltway between the exits for Old Georgetown Road and Rockville Pike is blocking one of the shoulders.

6:18 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after Georgia Avenue/MD 97 is blocking three lanes and one of the shoulders.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help: If you hear about any congestion, delays, problems or anything at all, tell us in the comments section below or by tweeting @drgridlock.

It will be sunny and a little warmer today, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

So far:

— Water main repairs on L Street NW have been completed and numerous streets reopened (including 24th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and L Street, L Street betwen 23rd and 24th streets and 24th Street between L and M streets). However, partial lane closures remain on L Street between 25th and 24th streets.
