Motorcycle ride expected to cause Bay Bridge delays

(Bill O'Leary/The Washington Post)

The Maryland Transportation Authority warns that the Bay Bridge may be severely congested Saturday due to the Anne Arundel County Burn Foundation Benefit Motorcycle Ride.

A group of 1,200 to 1,500 motorcyclists are expected to reach the bridge about 10 a.m., officials said. The motorcyclists will be directed to the far right of the toll plaza.

The ride begins at Cancun Cantina, proceeds across the bridge to Red Eye’s Dock Bar for lunch and returns to Cancun Cantina for the closing party.

The authority plans to switch to two-way operations on the bridge, and is also encouraging drivers to travel at off-peak times. The best times for travel this weekend are anticipated to be Saturday before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. and Sunday before 11 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
