Delays on Beltway and I-66

9:10 A.M.Update:

The disabled vehicle on southbound I-295 at Benning Road has been cleared.

Eastbound Sandy Spring Road/MD 198 is still blocked at Dino Drive in Burtonsville due to a utility problem.

And the disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway before Georgia Avenue has been cleared and all lanes reopened. And an accident on the outer loop west of Old Georgetown Road has been cleared as well, but there could be some residual delays.

I-66 East is pretty jammed up at the Beltway and again approaching the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge.

And the outer loop of the Beltway remains very backed up in and around Alexandria.

8:45 A.M.Update:

There’s a disabled vehicle on the outer loop of the Beltway before Georgia Avenue.

The accident on the 14th Street Bridge has been cleared.

A disabled vehicle on southbound I-295 at Benning Road could slow traffic.

8:25 A.M.Update:

The Belway accident near Alexandria is on the outer loop, not the inner loop as we initially reported. Traffic is heavily snarled on the outer loop.

An accident on southbound 14th Street Bridge, reportedly involving a tractor trailer, could really snarl traffic there. Expect big delays if you’re heading out of the District.

I-66 East is pretty jammed up at the Beltway and again approaching the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge.

Some debris in the road on the outer loop of the Beltway at Central Avenue could cause problems.

7:55 A.M.Update:

The Belway accident is still blocking the right lane and right shoulder. Traffic is being detoured to the local lanes, but there are heavy backups.

There’s some congestion on I-95 North approaching Springfield.

Eastbound Sandy Spring Road/MD 198 is still blocked at Dino Drive in Burtonsville due to a utility problem.

The utility problem on the East-West Highway at Washington Avenue in Silver Spring has been cleared and all lanes are open.

7:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop near Alexandria is still blocking the right lane and right shoulder. Traffic is being detoured to the local lanes, but there are heavy backups.

There’s a disabled vehicle on Suitland Parkway right before the Alabama Avenue exit in Southeast, so expect delays approaching that spot.

A disabled vehicle on southbound I-395 near L’Enfant Plaza is blocking the right lane, so keep left.

7:05 A.M. Update:

An accident involving a tractor trailer on the inner loop of the Beltway near U.S. 1/Richmond Highway in Alexandria is blocking the left lane and right lane as well as both shoulders. Expect massive delays.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The inner loop of the Beltway has reopened north of I-66. There’s still pretty bad congestion approaching I-66.

And the accident on the inner loop of the Beltway near the exit for New Hampshire Avenue has also been cleared and all lanes are moving.

6:25 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway is blocking the right lane and right shoulder north of I-66.

A train struck and killed a pedestrian in Riverdale last night. Justin Jouvenal has more here.
