Northbound B.W. Parkway reopened at Riverdale Road

8:45 A.M. Update:

The Baltimore-Washington Parkway has reopened at Riverdale Road, according to the U.S. Park Police.

There’s an accident on 9th Street and Constitution Avenue in Northwest. Southbound 9th Street is blocked at this spot, as are two lanes on eastbound Constitution Avenue. Expect major headaches.

An accident in the 4800 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest could cause delays.

A disabled vehicle is blocking part of Canal Road at Reservoir Road in Northwest.

8:15 A.M. Update:

Police activity is reported at the Library of Congress, and that could cause delays around the 100 block of Independence Avenue in Southeast Washington. Avoid the area immediately around the Library of Congress right now.

An accident on 3rd Street and Florida Avenue in Northwest could cause problems there.

There’s also an accident on 29th and M streets in Northwest and an accident on New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road in Northeast.

7:50 A.M. Update:

The disabled vehicle on I-395 North has been cleared and the lane reopened.

7:25 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on I-395 North near the Seminary Road exit is blocking the center lane.

7:10 A.M. Update:

Eastbound I-66 is a congested mess, with backups approaching Chain Bridge Road that stretch several miles to the west.

The disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway near Kenilworth Avenue has been cleared and all lanes are open there.

6:45 A.M. Update:

Justin Jouvenal has more details on the shooting that has shut down northbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway this morning. But if your commute normally involves taking that roadway, we’d advise heading a different way. It should be closed for a few hours. Heading over to the Beltway and I-95 North might be your best bet.

6:25 A.M. Update:

Northbound I-95 is very, very congested leading up to the Springfield Interchange. Delays essentially run from Woodbridge to the interchange.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! Today is the one reliably dry day of the next five, according to the Capital Weather Gang, and the day starts out sunny and chilly. It’ll warm up later in the day, but the morning commute should be bright and pretty windy.

We’ll be rounding up any headaches, issues or problems we hear about on the roads this morning. Let us know anything you see out there — tell us in the comments below or via Twitter (@DrGridlock).

So far:

Police activity on MD 295/B.W. Parkway is blocking all northbound lanes at Riverdale Road/MD 410. Justin Jouvenal reports that the U.S. Park Police are investigating a double shooting in the area, and it could remain closed into the morning rush hour. Traffic is being diverted onto Riverdale Road.

A disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway near Kenilworth Avenue is blocking one lane, one of the acceleration lanes and one of the shoulders.
