Overnight lane closing on 14th Street Bridge

The right lane of the northbound 14th Street Bridge will be closed from 8 tonight till 5 a.m. Wednesday. The closing will create a safety zone for work on a bridge pier.

While closing the lane is likely to create some extra traffic congestion, the main impact will be on drivers coming onto the bridge from the northbound George Washington Parkway. They will need to merge left almost immediately, whether they are bound for 14th Street or for the Southeast-Southwest Freeway.

The lane closing will begin around the bridge operator’s tower.
