Inner loop, I-95 N jammed in VA

9:20 A.M. Update:

The outer loop accident before Georgia Avenue has been cleared up and the lanes reopened.

The accident on I-395 North at Edsall Road has been cleared and the lanes reopened; the right shoulder remains closed.

However, the inner loop of the Beltway remains snarled in Virginia, and the lane closures on I-395 North caused big backups on I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange.

9 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway before Georgia Avenue is blocking the right lane and the right merge lane.

There’s also an accident on I-395 North at Edsall Road blocking the left and center lanes. Expect big problems to snarl this area and cause problems around the Springfield Interchange.

There’s an accident, reportedly involving a school bus, at 11th and Girard streets in Northwest.

8:30 A.M. Update:

There’s a disabled Metrobus at 14th and Upshur streets in Northwest, according to the District Department of Transportation.

Meanwhile, the traffic signal is reportedly flashing at Georgia Avenue and Upshur Street in Northwest.

8:10 A.M. Update:

All lanes have reopened on the inner loop of the Beltway near Van Dorn Street, but there’s still very heavy traffic approaching that area.

An accident at Connecticut Avenue and Kalorama Road in Northwest is reportedly slowing traffic, so avoid that spot if you can.

There’s also an accident in the 2500 block of Calvert Street in Northwest, so avoid that area as well.

7:45 A.M. Update:

All inner loop lanes have now reopened before Van Dorn Street. Just the right shoulder is blocked. However, there are still extensive delays, so try to avoid that area.

There’s an accident on Connecticut and Nebraska avenues in Northwest Washington.

7:25 A.M. Update:

Better news for the inner loop near Van Dorn Street: Now just the right lane and right shoulder are blocked.

7:15 A.M. Update:

Worse news for the inner loop of the Beltway near Van Dorn street: The accident is now blocking the left center lane in addition to the right center lane, right lane and right shoulder. Traffic is only getting by in the left lane, so stay to the left.

7:10 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway before Van Dorn Street is blocking the right center lane, right lane and right shoulder. Expect big backups around Alexandria.

6:55 A.M. Update:

The inner loop of the Beltway is congested around Gallows Road.

I-395 North has some congestion at the 14th Street Bridge as well as at King and Duke streets.

The accident on I-95 South in Baltimore at the toll plaza is blocking two southbound lanes.

6:35 A.M. Update:

I-66 East is pretty jammed up around Chain Bridge Road.

An accident on I-95 South in Baltimore at the toll plaza could cause headaches for southbound commuters.

6:10 A.M. Update:

There’s congestion on I-395 North at Duke Street. And I-95 North is backed up around Woodbridge.

Good morning, commuters. There’s a good chance this morning’s commute will be a tricky one, with the potential for wind, rain and other stormy weather. Depending on where you are, it could also just be cloudy, but regardless you should make sure to add extra time to your commute just in case.
