Inner loop lanes reopen at Suitland Parkway

8:40 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Suitland Parkway is now only blocking one of the shoulders. The two inner loop lanes have reopened.

The accident on westbound U.S. 50 after the exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Highway/MD 704 is now only blocking two westbound lanes.

An accident in the southbound Third Street Tunnel will likely delay traffic heading through that stretch.

There’s an accident on Rhode Island Avenue and Brentwood Road NE.

The accident on 9th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW and the accident at 23rd Street and Independence Avenue SW have both been cleared.

8:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on Benning Road and East Capitol Street NE could cause serious problems there.

Watch out for delays around the 300 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE due to an accident there.

An accident on I-395 at King Street is blocking one reversible lane.

The accident on the outer loop before Connecticut Avenue has been cleared.

No change on the inner loop at Suitland Parkway (two lanes and one of the shoulders remain blocked) and no change on westbound U.S. 50 after the exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Highway/MD 704 (three lanes and one of the shoulders are still blocked).

8 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Suitland Parkway is still blocking two inner loop lanes and one of the shoulders.

And there’s an accident on the outer loop before Connecticut Avenue, which could cause issues there.

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 after the exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Highway/MD 704 is blocking three lanes and one of the shoulders.

There’s an accident on 9th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW, which could cause delays around Mt. Vernon Square.

7:40 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Suitland Parkway is now blocking two inner loop lanes and one of the shoulders.

An accident at 23rd Street and Independence Avenue SW could cause issues.

7:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Suitland Parkway is blocking one lane and one of the shoulders.

The usual delays on I-66 East approaching the Beltway have arrived and are severely slowing down traffic on that route.

I-95 North is very slow before Newington.

6:50 A.M. Update:

The inner loop of the Beltway is very slow approaching Gallows Road.

I-395 North is delayed around Washington Boulevard and Seminary Road right now.

6:35 A.M. Update:

All lanes have reopened on southbound G.W. Parkway north of the Memorial Bridge. Heavy delays remain approaching this area.

6:20 A.M. Update:

The accident on 7th Street and Mt. Vernon Place NW is blocking the westbound 800 block Mt. Vernon Place.

6 A.M. Update:

Southbound G.W. Parkway is now blocked at U.S. 50, north of the Memorial Bridge, due to an accident. Police are on the scene and directing traffic. Expect big delays.

There is also an accident on 7th Street and Mt. Vernon Place NW.

Good morning, commuters! We’re in for a a rainy, cloudy day, according to the Capital Weather Gang. We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help: If you hear about any congestion, delays, problems or anything at all, tell us in the comments section below or by tweeting @drgridlock.

So far:

— An accident on North Capitol and M streets in Northwest Washington could slow traffic there.

— An accident on the G.W. Parkway near the Memorial Bridge is blocking one lane at the Memorial Circle and could be slowing southbound traffic as well, according to WTOP.
