Beltway very delayed in VA

8:30 A.M. Update:

Traffic is snarled on the inner loop of the Beltway approaching I-66.

The outer loop of the Beltway is moving more smoothly now after road closures caused major delays earlier this morning near the Little River Turnpike. There are delays on the outer loop to the east of the Springfield Interchange.

And it’s not unique to Virginia: The outer loop of the Beltway is also heavily backed up around University Boulevard.

I-395 North is backed up around Duke Street and at multiple points between that exit and the 14th Street Bridge.

8:25 A.M. Update:

The lanes have all reopened on westbound U.S. 50 after Church Road, with just one of the shoulders remaining blocked.

8:10 A.M. Update:

Power has been restored in the Cleveland Park area of Northwest Washington, according to Alert DC.

7:55 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound U.S. 50 is blocking two lanes at Church Road.

7:50 A.M. Update:

A power outage reported in the Cleveland Park area could seriously slow traffic in that neighborhood. Traffic control officers are going to help guide travelers in the area.

7:30 A.M. Update:

All outer loop lanes have reopened at the Little River Turnpike. However, expect residual delays to last a little while in this area.

The accident on the outer loop at the Springfield Interchange has also been cleared, so the vehicle has been cleared from that off-ramp.

The accident on the inner loop at G.W. Parkway has also been cleared and that vehicle moved.

7:15 A.M. Update:

After an accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at G.W. Parkway, there’s a vehicle blocking the right shoulder of the ramp to the parkway.

And an accident on I-395 South near Glebe Road is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

6:55 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway at the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right lane of the off-ramp at exit 57 B.

6:45 A.M. Update:

Two of the outer loop lanes have reopened at the Little River Turnpike. The right lane remains blocked at that spot. There are delays in both directions.

Traffic is backed up and slow on the inner loop near the Springfield Interchange for traffic departing southbound I-395.

6:35 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder of the exit 170 C off-ramp.

6:20 A.M. Update:

The outer loop of the Beltway is still problematic in Northern Virginia. The left lane, right center lane and right lane remain closed due to an accident. There are delays approaching this spot that stretch back several miles.

So far:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway near the Little River Turnpike is blocking the left lane, right center lane and right lane. There are already pretty heavy backups approaching this spot.
