Accidents snarl Beltway in VA, MD

8:35 A.M. Update:

Though all lanes have reopened on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 and on the outer loop of the Beltway between Georgia and Connecticut avenues, there’s still a lot of congestion in those areas.

The accident on I-95 North north of the Fairfax County Parkway has been cleared from the right shoulder. There are still heavy delays approaching this spot.

8:25 A.M. Update:

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 has been cleared from the shoulder. There are still significant backups on this stretch.

There is an accident at 4th Street and Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast Washington.

8:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound Leesburg Pike near the ramp to I-495 North has been cleared and all lanes are open.

The accident on I-270 South before Shady Grove Road has been cleared and the shoulder reopened.

There’s an accident on southbound I-295 at Howard Road in Southeast Washington, which could cause headaches around that spot.

An accident at 4th and Condon streets in Southeast Washington could snarl traffic there.

7:45 A.M. Update:

An accident at New York and Florida avenues in Northeast Washington could cause severe delays there.

The southbound local lane has reopened on I-270 South before Shady Grove Road. The accident there is now only blocking one of the shoulders.

The accident on I-95 North north of the Fairfax County Parkway is only blocking the right shoulder.

7:30 A.M. Update:

Some relief for drivers on the inner loop at I-66: The left three lanes have reopened and only the right shoulder remains blocked. The heavy congestin will remain for a while, but at least the lanes are open again.

The accident on the inner loop at Leesburg Pike that was blocking the north exit ramp has been cleared.

The accident on I-270 South before Shady Grove Road is blocking one southbound lane and one of the shoulders.

Traffic signals are reportedly flashing at 34th Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest Washington.

There’s an accident at Wheeler Road and Mississippi Avenue in Southeast Washington. Avoid that intersection if you can.

7:20 A.M. Update:

The outer loop has reopened between Georgia and Connecticut avenues. There are still heavy backups approaching this spot, but all lanes are open again.

The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 is blocking the left three lanes.

An update on the accident on westbound Leesburg Pike near the ramp to I-495 North: the center lane has reopened, so now only the left lane is blocked.

An accident on the outer loop at U.S. 1 in Alexandria is blocking the center lane and right shoulder.

There is a disabled vehicle at Florida and Rhode Island avenues in Northwest Washington, so you can expect additional traffic near that intersection.

A disabled vehicle at Canal Road and Arizona Avenue in Northwest Washington will also slow traffic there.

7:05 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound Leesburg Pike near the ramp to I-495 North is blocking the left lane and center lane. Expect some serious delays approaching Tysons Corner.

The two outer loop lanes remain closed between Georgia and Connecticut avenues due to a downed tree.

6:55 A.M. Update:

One of the outer loop lanes has reopened between Georgia and Connecticut avenues. Two lanes and one of the shoulders remain blocked.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after the University Boulevard exit has been cleared.

The accident on I-95 North after the Fairfax County Parkway is now just blocking the right shoulder. The right lane has reopened.

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 could snarl traffic there.

6:45 A.M. Update:

Debris on the outer loop of the Beltway is blocking three lanes and one of the shoulders between Georgia and Connecticut avenues. Expect very heavy delays.

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at Leesburg Pike is blocking the north exit ramp.

6:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on I-95 North after the Fairfax County Parkway is blocking the right lane and right shoulder.

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway after the University Boulevard exit is blocking two lanes and one of the shoulders.

6:20 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-95 North after the Fairfax County Parkway could cause some delays there.

Temple Hill Road is temporarily closed at Kirbywood Street in Clinton due to a downed telephone pole, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
