Watch for extra traffic congestion Thursday evening around the U.S. Capitol, where President Obama will address Congress at about 7 p.m. Some streets in the Capitol Hill area will be closed by Capitol Police from 5 p.m. till the event is over.
The Capitol Visitor Center will close for tours at 11 a.m. Thursday, reopening at 9 a.m. Friday, and Capitol Square will be restricted to authorized people starting at 4 p.m. Thursday.

D Street NE between Second Street and Louisiana Avenue; C Street NE between Second Street and Louisiana Avenue; Constitution Avenue between Second Street NE and Louisiana Avenue; Delaware Avenue between Columbus Circle and Constitution Avenue NE; New Jersey Avenue NE between Louisiana Avenue and D Street NE; Pennsylvania Avenue NW between First and Third streets; East Capitol Street between Second and First streets; First Street between Columbus Circle NE and C Street SE; First Street between Louisiana Avenue NW and Washington Avenue SW.
South Side of Capitol Square
Maryland Avenue SW between First and Third streets SW; Independence Avenue between Second Street SE and Washington Avenue SW; C Street between First Street SE and Washington Avenue SW; Delaware Avenue between Washington Avenue SW and C Street SW; New Jersey Avenue between Independence Avenue and D Street SE; South Capitol Street between Independence Avenue and D Street SE/SW.
