8:35 A.M. Update:
The accidents on southbound I-270 and the westbound Intercounty Connector have both been cleared up.
There are also some of the usual delays in the area: The inner loop of the Beltway is delayed around I-66 and northbound I-395 is jammed up at the 14th Street Bridge. I-95 North is also still delayed in Woodbridge.
8:15 A.M. Update:
An accident at 14th and Champin streets in Northwest Washington could cause problems there, so avoid that intersection.
There’s also an accident on the westbound Intercounty Connector before the exit for Shady Grove Road. It’s blocking one lane and one of the shoulders.
And an accident on southbound I-270 near Montrose Road is blocking one of the shoulders.
7:55 A.M. Update:
The tornado watch is in effect until 3 p.m. for D.C.
The accidents on the inner loop of the Beltway at the G.W. Parkway and on eastbound Dulles Toll Road in Leesburg have both been cleared.
7:30 A.M. Update:
The accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at G.W. Parkway is blocking the north entrance ramp, though traffic is getting by on the right shoulder of the ramp, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Expect some delays approaching that spot.
An accident on the eastbound Dulles Toll Road/VA 267 near the Battlefield Parkway in Leesburg is blocking the left shoulder.
An accident on South Capitol Street and Southern Avenue could cause major problems around that intersection.
7 A.M. Update:
An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway near the G.W Parkway and the American Legion Bridge could cause delays.
6:45 A.M. Update:
I-95 North is now backed up approaching the Fairfax County Parkway as well as in Woodbridge.
6:20 A.M. Update:
Northbound I-95 is slow approaching the Woodbridge area.
There’s a disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway south of Braddock Road. It’s blocking the right shoulder, but could still cause some delays.
Good morning, commuters! This morning should bring strong to severe storms, with high wind gusts and the possibility of isolated tornadoes and hail, according to the Capital Weather Gang. There’s a tornado watch through 8 a.m. this morning.
All of these things could combine to cause big commuting problems this morning. Remember to add extra time to your commute when there is bad weather, and expect to hit delays. Be careful out there.
