Accidents snarl traffic in NW and MD

9:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on East-West Highway is still blocking the westbound right off ramp and two eastbound lanes at Riverdale Road in Riverdale Park.

An accident at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Peabody Street in Northwest could snarl traffic there. Avoid the area, because multiple lanes are reportedly blocked, according to the District Department of Transportation.

The inner loop of the Beltway is still a mess around Telegraph Road, so expect headaches approaching that spot.

8:35 A.M. Update:

A fire reported on the 5300 block of Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington is blocking the roadway at Jenifer Street. Try to avoid Connecticut Avenue if you can help it.

An accident on I-95 North/the Beltway at the B.W. Parkway (in the area of Greenbelt) is blocking one of the northbound shoulders. This could cause some delays for B.W. Parkway travelers, who might want to consider taking Kenilworth Avenue north until after this spot.

I-66 East is very backed up around Chain Bridge Road.

There’s a disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway at Braddock Road. It’s only on the shoulder, but since this area tends to be pretty congested right about now, I thought it was worth mentioning.

7:10 A.M. Update:

The accident on East-West Highway is still blocking the westbound right off ramp and two eastbound lanes at Riverdale Road in Riverdale Park.

There’s also a disabled vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway at New Hampshire Avenue.
