Outer loop still slow in MD

8:40 A.M. Update:

Traffic has improved on the outer loop of the Beltway in Maryland. There are still heavy delays near Colesville Road and University Avenue, but things are clearer closer to Georgia Avenue.

A disabled vehicle on the westbound Intercounty Connector after the Georgia Avenue exit could slow traffic there. No report of a lane closure yet, but expect delays.

An accident on eastbound I-66 at Nutley Road is blocking the right shoulder.

8:15 A.M. Update:

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway at I-66 is blocking the right shoulder.

This one’s for commuters around Middleburg and west of Dulles: Route 50 is down to one lane after an accident at the traffic circle east of Gilbert’s Corner

8:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway continues to block the left shoulder. Expect some delays there. Eastbound traffic is already backed up approaching the same spot, but that’s just the usual morning congestion.

7:50 A.M. Update:

A disabled vehicle on westbound I-66 at Chain Bridge Road is blocking the right shoulder.

7:35 A.M. Update:

One lane on northbound 7th Street at E Street NW is being closed due to uneven pavement, according to Alert DC.

7:20 A.M. Update:

The accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway is now only blocking the left shoulder.

7:17 A.M. Update:

All outer loop lanes have now reopened near the Rockville Pike. The earlier accident is now only blocking the shoulder. Severe delays continue to slow Beltway traffic. Again, avoid this stretch of the outer loop if you can help it.

7:15 A.M. Update:

Another lane has reopened, so only one outer loop lane and one of the shoulders remain blocked near the Rockville Pike.

The accident on the outer loop of the Beltway near the Rockville Pike is still snarling the outer loop right now. Traffic is crawling from the Rockville Pike to Riggs Road and the I-95 split. The congestion eases after the Rockville Pike, but it’s a long, slow slog in getting there.

Try to avoid this stretch of the Beltway if possible.

7:05 A.M. Update:

An accident on westbound I-66 at the Beltway is blocking the left lane.

7 A.M. Update:

An accident on the outer loop of the Beltway east of Rockville Pike is blocking two outer loop lanes and one of the shoulders.

The accident on I-395 North at Duke Street is only on the shoulder. The right two lanes are open.

Standing water blocked lanes in the underpass of South Capitol Street and Malcolm X Avenue SE earlier, but all lanes are open in both directions now, according to the D.C. police.

The debris on the inner loop of the Beltway between the Rockville Pike and Connecticut Avenue has been cleared.

6:40 A.M. Update:

An accident on I-395 North at Duke Street is blocking the right two lanes and the right shoulder.

Some debris on the inner loop of the Beltway between the Rockville Pike and Connecticut Avenue could slow traffic along that stretch

6:30 A.M. Update:

The accident on eastbound I-66 before Lee Highway and Centreville has been moved fully to the left shoulder. The left two lanes have reopened.

A disabled vehicle on the outer loop before the Springfield Interchange is blocking the right shoulder.

6:15 A.M. Update:

An accident on eastbound I-66 before Lee Highway and Centreville is blocking the left two lanes and the left shoulder. Expect severe backups to build approaching this spot.

6:05 A.M. Update:

The accident on eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue SE at the on-ramp to northbound I-295 has been cleared and the lane reopened.

MARC Camden Line train 843 is running 8 to 10 minutes late approaching Dorsey due to a signal problem.

Original Post:

Good morning, commuters! It’s going to be a warm, spring-like day, with some brisk breezes mixed in, according to the Capital Weather Gang. That being said, it rained quite a bit yesterday, so there could still be some slick spots out there. Use caution.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and we will need your help. If you hear about any congestion, delays, problems or anything at all, tell us in the comments section below or by tweeting @drgridlock.

So far:

— There’s standing water in the underpass of South Capitol Street and Malcolm X Avenue SE. The entrance to the underpass has been blocked in both directions by police and traffic is being diverted to the service roads to the right of the underpass. Avoid this area.

— An accident on eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue SE at the on-ramp to northbound I-295 is blocking one eastbound lane.

— An accident on I-395 North at Seminary Road is blocking the right shoulder.

— An accident on I-95 South in Triangle south of Joplin Road is blocking the left lane.
