The Capital Weather Gang says Friday’s weather should be the calm before Hurricane Sandy begins impacting the region. Still, there will be some early morning fog and potentially even some rain, so watch for those things as you’re heading out.

Connecticut Ave. reopens in Aspen Hill

Connecticut Avenue has reopened in both directions at Bel Pre Road. The roadway was closed due to an earlier accident there involving two large trucks, according to the Montgomery County Police.

Crash on I-66 West

An accident on I-66 West in Centreville is blocking the left shoulder and could create delays there. 

Accident cleared from Connecticut Ave. and Macomb St.

The accident on Connecticut Avenue and Macomb Street in Northwest Washington has been cleared and all lanes reopened.

MARC delays

MARC Brunswick Line train 878 is running 23 minutes late due to a medical emergency that stoppe the train at the Silver Spring station. Metro will honor MARC tickets, according to the Maryland Transit Administration. 

Accident cleared from I-270 South

The crash on I-270 South right before Quince Orchard Road has been cleared from the shoulder.

Accident on Connecticut Ave. and Macomb St.

There’s an accident on Connecticut Avenue and Macomb Street in Northwest Washington, according to the D.C. police. 

Ramp from King St. to I-395 North reopens

The accident on I-395 North at King Street has been cleared and the northbound entrance ramp reopened.

Crash on inner loop at Wilson Bridge

An accident on the inner loop of the Beltway on the Maryland side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge could snarl traffic there. No lane closures have been reported yet, but expect problems.

The crash on I-270 South right before Quince Orchard Road is blocking one of the shoulders.

I-270 South crash cleared from shoulder

And the accident on I-270 South at Shady Grove Road has just been cleared from one of the shoulders. There’s still a crash reported near the Quince Orchard Road exit, although no lanes seem to be closed. Still, expect southbound delays. 

I-270 South lanes reopen, delays could remain

The accident on I-270 South at Shady Grove Road is now just blocking one of the shoulders. No lanes of I-270 South are reported to be closed right now, but there is still another crash at the Quince Orchard Road exit that could create delays.

Ramp from King St. to I-395 North blocked by crash

An accident on I-395 North at King Street is blocking the northbound entrance ramp. 

Another crash on I-270 South

Another crash has been reported on I-270 South, this one right before Quince Orchard Road. No lane closures have been reported near that exit yet, but watch for additional delays.

I-270 South lanes still blocked

The crash on I-270 South at W. Montgomery Avenue appears to have been cleared and the lanes there reopened. However, an accident on I-270 South at Shady Grove Road is now blocking two lanes. It’s unclear if this is related to the earlier crash or if this is a separate incident. But expect delays on southbound I-270. 

Connecticut Ave. remains blocked in Aspen Hill

The crash on Connecticut Avenue at Bel Pre Road is still blocking Connecticut Avenue in both directions. The accident involved two large trucks, and while it doesn’t appear so far that there are any serious or life-threatening injuries, the Montgomery County Police report that the road remains blocked while they wait for two trucks to arrive. 

I-270 South lanes blocked by crash

An accident on I-270 South at W. Montgomery Avenue is blocking two southbound lanes and one of the shoulders.

Disabled vehicle cleared from I-395 South

The disabled vehicle on I-395 South after Glebe Road has been cleared from the right shoulder.

Connecticut Ave. blocked in Aspen Hill

An accident on Connecticut Avenue at Bel Pre Road is blocking Connecticut Avenue in both directions. Head to Georgia Avenue or Layhill Road if you normally take Connecticut Avenue. And expect delays around this intersection.

Disabled vehicle on I-395 South

A disabled vehicle on I-395 South after Glebe Road is blocking the right shoulder.

Minor VRE delay

VRE train 304 is running about five minutes behind schedule. 

Disabled vehicle cleared from outer loop

A disabled vehicle was reported on the outer loop of the Beltway at the Rockville Pike exit, but it has been cleared.

I-95 North very crowded, slow in Virginia

I-95 North is very crowded approaching the Springfield Interchange, with heavy traffic stretching back to Dale City and Woodbridge. Things are moving particularly slowly near Woodbridge, so expect the slowest condition there. 

MARC Brunswick Line changes

MARC Brunswick Line trains 872, 874 and 878 will all board riders from the opposite tracks at the Brunswick station.
