Taxicabs in the District are about to come in a single color scheme. The contenders for that new color scheme are on display in D.C., and residents are being asked to offer their input.

Four vehicles are being showcased at the Verizon Center, each wearing one of the potential colors. These vehicles will remain there until Jan. 7, 2013, at which point they will be moved to Union Station. They will also pop up in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center during the Washington Auto Show in February.

You can also check out the potential designs online. These four color schemes and others will be posted on the D.C. Taxicab Commission Web site so that residents can vote. Responses from the public, comments at an upcoming public hearing and input from D.C. cab owners and operators will all be used in the decision-making process. The final recommendations are expected in the spring.

The single color scheme for D.C.’s cabs comes as a result of a taxi reform bill that passed earlier this year
