Practice inauguration parade will close downtown D.C. streets Sunday

January 10, 2013

The presidential inauguration is going to close quite a few D.C. streets on Jan. 21. But preparations for that day are going to be felt this weekend, when an inaugural practice parade on Sunday will restrict parking and shut down several downtown streets.

The following streets will be closed from 6:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday:

  • Constitution Avenue from 1st Street NE to 6th Street NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd Street NW to 15th Street NW as well as Pennsylvania Avenue from 17th Street NW to 19th Street NW
  • 15th Street between I (Eye) Street NW and Independence Avenue SW
  • Streets that cross Pennsylvania Avenue along the parade route will close temporarily between 7 a.m. and noon.

Parking also will be severely limited due to the event. The following blocks (which largely overlap with the street closures) will have no parking from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
