Metrobus crashes on Rockville Pike, no riders aboard

A Metrobus without any passengers aboard crashed into a utility pole in Bethesda on Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Rockville Pike near Tuckerman Lane, Metro said.

This bus was not in service at the time. The preliminary investigation suggests that the bus operator may have had a medical emergency before the crash, according to Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.

The driver was not seriously injured during the crash, but he was taken to an area hospital for tests, Stessel said.
