Inner loop snarled by crash in Md.

3:55 P.M. Update: The travel lanes have reopened, though the left shoulder remains blocked. Heavy delays still remain approaching this spot.

Original Post: A three-vehicle accident on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway is snarling traffic before Connecticut Avenue.

The crash occurred at 2:53 p.m., according to the Maryland State Police. The accident is blocking the left three lanes, forcing travelers into the far right lane and right shoulder.

Delays stretch back beyond Old Georgetown Road, with vehicles slowing to a crawl as they approach the blocked lanes.
