Orange Line work finished after morning delays

Early Tuesday afternoon, Metro crews finished fixing a section of the Orange Line near the East Falls Church station after overnight testing on the new Silver Line caused damage to signal equipment.

Early Tuesday morning, Metro said crews found the problem on the outbound track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church. During the morning rush hour, trains were single-tracking between those two stations, creating delays for customers.

Riders reported crowding at stations and on trains.

The new Silver Line is expected to open later this year.

At 2:18 p.m., Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said crews were “wrapping up now” on fixing the area and power was restored.
