Capital Bikeshare set another ridership record on Saturday, with more than 11,000 trips taken on the cherry-red bicycles.
The service tweeted that 11,368 rides were taken on Saturday. It was the perfect storm for Bikeshare: Gorgeous weather made it an ideal day to be outside, with people flocking to the cherry blossoms, the Japanese Street Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival parade and an afternoon Nationals game, among other things.
Bikeshare has been rolling through its ridership record recently. It set a record on Saturday, March 30, with 9,669 trips, following that with 9,831 trips on Sunday, April 7, and 9,854 rides on Tuesday, April 9.
Of course, Bikeshare numbers could climb even higher in the future. The District is working on an expansion that will add dozens of stations, while Arlington is also in the midst of adding dozens of new stations.
